Redear Shellcracker
Readears or Shellcrackers get their name from their
appearance and physical attributed. Readear comes from
the red spot on their gill flap and shellcracker comes from
the ability to crack and eat snails and shellfish. They are
an excellent fish to stock in small ponds and lakes. They
are similar in appearance to a Bluegill, but grow to a
larger size and reproduce once in the spring of the year.
They are good to eat and fun to catch.
